The Roofing Warranty Certificate is an essential document that provides homeowners with peace of mind regarding their roofing investment. Issued by MCS Roofing, this certificate outlines the terms and conditions of the warranty, ensuring that the installation meets high standards of craftsmanship. Homeowners can expect lifetime coverage against leaks caused by substandard installation, which lasts for 50 years from the date of issue. This warranty is not only a commitment to quality but is also transferable, allowing new owners to benefit from the same protections, provided a written request is made. However, it is crucial for homeowners to understand that the warranty takes effect only after full payment for the installation and does not cover damages resulting from defective materials or structural issues unrelated to the roofing work. To maintain the warranty, homeowners must promptly report any issues to MCS Roofing, adhere to cleaning requirements every two years, and ensure that repairs are conducted by the company. Certain exclusions apply, including damage from natural disasters or alterations made to the roof. By familiarizing themselves with the details of this warranty, homeowners can safeguard their investment and ensure the longevity of their roof.

Misconceptions

Misconceptions about the Roofing Warranty Certificate can lead to misunderstandings and potential issues for homeowners. Here are five common misconceptions:

  • The warranty covers all types of damage. This is incorrect. The warranty specifically excludes damage from natural disasters, structural movement, and alterations to the roof. Homeowners should be aware of these limitations.
  • The warranty is automatically transferable. While the warranty is transferable, it requires a written request and signature from the original homeowner. Failing to follow this process may void the transfer.
  • Roof cleaning is optional. This is a misconception. The warranty requires that the roof be cleaned every two years by MCS Roofing. If this maintenance is not performed, the warranty will become null and void.
  • All repairs are covered under the warranty. This is not true. Only repairs related to workmanship are covered at no charge. Homeowners will incur costs for repairs due to other issues not related to MCS Roofing's work.
  • Notification of issues is not time-sensitive. In reality, homeowners must promptly notify MCS Roofing of any problems. Delays in reporting issues can result in the warranty being voided.

Common mistakes

  1. Neglecting to Complete All Required Fields: Many people overlook the necessity of filling out every section of the Roofing Warranty Certificate. Missing information, such as the homeowner's name or the project address, can lead to delays or even void the warranty.

  2. Failing to Sign the Form: Some individuals forget to sign the warranty certificate. Without a signature, the document is incomplete and may not be legally binding, which can jeopardize the warranty's validity.

  3. Not Keeping a Copy: After submitting the form, homeowners often do not retain a copy for their records. This can create problems later if there is a need to reference the warranty or prove its existence.

  4. Ignoring the Warranty Terms: Some people do not read or understand the terms and conditions outlined in the warranty. This can lead to misunderstandings about coverage and responsibilities, potentially resulting in unexpected costs.

  5. Overlooking the Cleaning Requirement: The warranty specifies that the roof must be cleaned every two years. Failing to adhere to this requirement can void the warranty, yet many homeowners are unaware of this obligation.
